Problem Statement
The existing PrivacyGuard platform was outdated, with inefficient workflows that created friction for users. Additionally, the absence of a scalable design system hindered the platform's ability to support multiple brands, increasing development time and inconsistencies across interfaces.
As the platform needed to cater to a wide range of users with varying levels of technical proficiency, it was imperative to simplify workflows, modernise the interface, and introduce a consistent design system that could be scaled across multiple brands without sacrificing usability or visual appeal.
PrivacyGuard is a comprehensive credit monitoring and identity protection service that empowers users to monitor their credit scores and reports from all three major credit bureaus—Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. The platform also provides robust identity theft protection, enabling users to track and secure sensitive information such as financial accounts, personal data, and government-issued IDs. In addition to monitoring, the service features tools for resolving identity theft incidents and educational resources to help users understand credit and identity protection.
Project Overview
Goal
This project involved a complete update and redesign of the PrivacyGuard responsive website and mobile app, focusing on the member’s area. The goal was to deliver an improved user experience, modernized UI design, and a scalable design system that could support multiple brands. This extensive project required close collaboration with senior product team members, business analysts (BAs), and a development team, all working within an Agile framework.
Key Responsibilities
UX /UI Design and Leadership
I led the end-to-end user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design for the PrivacyGuard platform, ensuring a seamless, user-centered design process that addressed both user needs and business objectives. The project spanned the responsive website and mobile app, requiring a comprehensive approach to UX workflows and detailed UI design.
This included creating user journey maps, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for iterative feedback and delivering the final polished UI. I worked collaboratively with stakeholders from product, business, and development teams to incorporate technical requirements, business insights, and user feedback into a cohesive design.
UX Design:
Conducted a full redesign of the platform's user experience, improving core workflows such as account activation, credit score monitoring, and identity asset management.
Designed user journey maps illustrating key user flows, such as onboarding with 2FA, managing alerts, and navigating the dashboard.
High-fidelity, interactive prototypes were created for critical features.
UI Design:
Delivered the final user interface for all sections of the platform, including dashboards, alerts, credit score views, asset monitoring workflows, and educational content. The design adhered to usability best practices while incorporating modern visual design elements to make complex data more accessible.
Ensured UI consistency across the responsive website and mobile app, integrating branding guidelines for a cohesive visual identity.
Developed a scalable design system in Figma, enabling the platform to be adapted to multiple brands effortlessly.
To deliver a high-quality product, I worked closely with a cross-functional team of experts:
Product Team: Senior members of the product team provided insights into business requirements, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices, ensuring the designs met business goals and helped shape the product.
Business Analysts: The BAs were instrumental in translating user stories and requirements into actionable tasks, helping me align design solutions with technical feasibility.
Development Team: I collaborated with developers to validate design feasibility, ensure smooth implementation, and address technical challenges during sprints.
The project followed an Agile methodology, with bi-weekly sprint planning, retrospectives, and UX/UI reviews. Workshops and brainstorming sessions were held regularly to review features, user journeys, and interface designs. These collaborative sessions enabled the team to identify potential improvements early and ensure alignment across all stakeholders.

The Solution
Enhanced Features
The redesign introduced significant improvements across the platform’s features and functionalities:
Main Dashboard: Redesigned to provide a high-level summary of a user’s credit scores and reports from all three bureaus (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion). Data was visualised using clean graphs and charts, making it easy for users to track trends and identify changes at a glance.
Credit Reports: Enhanced layouts allowed users to view detailed reports from each bureau in an intuitive format, breaking down complex information into digestible sections.
Credit Rating Tools: Interactive calculators were added to help users understand the factors influencing their scores and simulate how actions might impact their ratings.
Identity Center: Redesigned workflows allowed users to easily add and monitor a variety of assets, including financial accounts, personal information, and official documents. Each category was clearly defined, with step-by-step guidance for adding assets.
Alerts Center: A revamped alert system categorized identity theft alerts by severity, helping users prioritize responses and take immediate action when needed.
Account Settings: Developed intuitive interfaces for account activation, password recovery, and two-factor authentication setup, improving security and user experience.
Education Center: Expanded content with visual aids and step-by-step guides, empowering users to better protect their identities and credit.

Design System
A key component of the project was the creation of a scalable design system to support PrivacyGuard and its application across multiple brands.
Purpose and Scope:
The design system was built to ensure consistency in branding, layout, and interaction patterns across a range of platforms and devices.
It provided a comprehensive library of reusable components and styles, enabling rapid scalability to support additional brands without compromising quality or user experience.
Key Features:
Component Library: Included buttons, forms, tables, graphs, and dynamic widgets for features like credit report views and alert dashboards. These components were designed to be flexible and adaptable to different brand identities.
Typography and Color Guidelines: Defined a cohesive set of typography styles, color palettes, and visual hierarchies to ensure a professional, consistent look and feel across all screens.
Interaction Patterns: Established clear guidelines for user interactions, including navigation flows, modals, dropdowns, and hover states, to maintain usability and accessibility standards.

Mobile App

Impact
The redesign achieved several notable outcomes:
Improved Usability: Enhanced user journeys and simplified workflows reduced friction across the platform, resulting in a more engaging and accessible experience for all users.
Data Clarity: New dashboard layouts and data visualizations made it easier for users to understand their credit scores, reports, and identity protection status.
Scalability: The design system facilitated faster rollouts for additional brands, reducing the time and effort required to adapt the platform for new business opportunities.
Increased Security: By redesigning key account management flows and introducing two-factor authentication, the platform provided a more secure environment for users.
Positive Feedback: Users appreciated the modernized interface and the improved ease of managing their credit and identity protection.
Lessons Learned
This project underscored the importance of collaboration, iteration, and adaptability:
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with stakeholders from multiple disciplines ensured that the final design met business, technical, and user requirements.
Iterative Design: Regular reviews and updates to user flows and prototypes allowed the team to refine solutions and address potential challenges early.
Scalable Design Systems: Building a robust design system from the outset was key to maintaining consistency and supporting future growth across brands.
